With generous support from the Westminster College Foundation, this year the London Children’s Museum piloted a brand new program: Science of Play!
Each week, Science of Play invites children and their families to explore our exhibits alongside play-enhancing materials to discover the science behind play. We’ve explored so many different types of play since this program began: fine motor play, pretend play, physical literacy, mastery & recapitulative play, object play, creative play, sensory play, and communication & social play. The best part? It all supports children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development!
Using hands-on materials, interactive activities, and facilitated discussions to identify the different types of learning that happen while children play, Science of Play provides opportunities for children and caregivers to connect, engage, and develop lifelong skills. Takeaways and informational resources allow families to continue their learning beyond the museum.
Thank you Westminster College Foundation for supporting Science of Play, and helping families discover the power of play!
